Ocean Township head coach Don Klein remembers when he first noticed Pitt commit Kenny Pickett.
“I think the first time I worked with Kenny was probably when he was nine years old. It was at my camp. This is a true story: we have a segment in the afternoon where the kids are doing seven-on-sevens and the kids all come back to the huddle and they’re all saying, ‘Kenny, throw me the ball, Kenny, throw me the ball,’ and Kenny told them, ‘Listen, I have one football and I’m going to throw it to the person that gives us the best chance to score.’
“So, nine years old and you see that, I remember me and a couple of my assistant coaches looking at each other and going, ‘Oh, man, this kid gets it.’”
