West Virginia has jumped into the WPIAL recruiting territory to nab one of the top local recruits in the class of 2027.

Armand Hill — a 5-foot-10, 180-pound four-star running back from West Mifflin in West Mifflin, Pa. — committed to Rich Rodriguez and the Mountaineers on Friday afternoon.

He held offers from Akron, Maryland, Michigan, Penn State, Pitt, Syracuse, Toledo and WVU.

Pitt was one of the first programs to extend Hill an offer, with secondary coach Cory Sanders offering him in December of 2023 — coming off a strong freshman season.

The relationship between Pitt and Hill didn’t gain much traction over the last year and a half, however.

Pitt has already secured two commitments in the class of 2027, starting the cycle off strong with wide receiver Jacob Thomas (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) and running back Tyler Reid (Miramar, Fla.).
