INKED: WR Darian Street signs with Pitt

Bethlehem (Pa.) wide receiver Darian Street has signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his athletic and academic career at Pitt. Find out more about Street.

Darian Street became the 16th player to sign with Pitt’s football program in the 2017 recruiting class on National Signing Day, joining his classmates signing today and four early enrollees who have already been in class at Pitt. Street is a 6-foot-2, 170-pound wide receiver from Bethlehem (Pa.) and the brother of former Pitt wide receiver Devin Street. Here’s a brief look back at his journey as a recruit and his history with Pitt:

Street is offered by Pitt: Street was offered by Pitt in October of 2015 during the fall of his junior season, one of his earliest offers. Pitt joined schools like Army, UConn, and Kent State in offering the Bethlehem (Pa.) Liberty prospect, who initially hoped to make his name elsewhere. Street didn't want to be viewed in the shadow of his older brother Devin Street, a Pitt alumni and current NFL wide receiver.

Street commits to Pitt: Street became the 6th recruit to commit to Pitt in the 2017 class when he pledged to the Panthers on June 6th of 2016. The younger Street overcame his misgivings about being how overshadowed by another legacy and found that Pitt was the perfect fit for him.

In his words: “I’m going to Pitt,” Street told Panther-Lair.com. “I was basically down to Pitt and UConn and I loved UConn, too; the things I looked for in a school, they both had. Pitt just seems better. The coaches are great, they’re down to earth. And I love the area, the city of Pittsburgh. The education is great and I could see myself doing good down there... I was going to give myself some time to think about it after the visit, but [on Sunday] it just clicked; I knew I wanted to go to Pitt."

On his official visit: “This is my first time actually getting to go out and see more of campus and things at Pitt. It was really good, I had a great time on the official. I wish I could do it all over again already,” Street said.

Street's impact: Check out video analysis of Street's impact from Panther-Lair.com publisher Chris Peak from Street's commitment in June.

From the coach: “He’s one of the greatest kids I’ve been around,” Street's head coach John Truby said. “His maturity level is very high. And for him to have a brother that has been so successful and a great role model, I think that helps a lot. I would trust him with my kids.”
