Pitt released its depth chart for the Oklahoma State game Monday, and here's a look at the notable changes.
- The first thing that stands out about the offensive two-deep is the structural change: after listing two receivers and a fullback in the first two depth charts, the coaches removed the fullback and now list three receiver positions.
- Sophomore Maurice Ffrench is the new addition as a first-team receiver, with Aaron Mathews listed as his backup. Mathews is also now the top backup to Jester Weah; last week, he was an "OR" backup to Weah with Ruben Flowers.
- Alex Bookser went back into the starting lineup at Penn State after sitting out the season opener while suspended. Last week, he was listed as an "OR" starter at right guard with Brandon Hodges, who started the opener. But Bookser played every snap at right guard at Penn State, and he is now the lone started listed at right guard. Hodges was a backup at right tackle at Penn State, but he is listed as the backup right guard on the depth chart.
- In a corresponding move, the coaches listed Mike Herndon as the backup left guard; he had been the backup right guard on the first two depth charts.
- Chawntez Moss also made his season debut at Penn State, and on Monday, he made his debut on the depth chart. Moss was listed as the top backup behind Qadree Ollison.
- The coaches made a few moves in the depth on the defensive two-deep. Up front, there were some shifts in the interior, as Kam Carter was moved from the third listing at defensive tackle to the top backup at nose tackle.
Rashad Wheeler had been the top nose tackle backup on last week's depth chart; this week, he is third there behind Carter. And freshman Jaylen Twyman moved from third at nose tackle to third at defensive tackle; he has not played in a game yet this season.
- There were two notable additions to the secondary, as sophomore Damar Hamlin and redshirt freshman Therran Coleman were listed for the first time this season.
Hamlin is listed as the backup to Bricen Garner and Jazzee Stocker at field safety. Coleman is the backup to Dane Jackson and Damarri Mathis at cornerback.
