Virginia DE plans to visit

Chesapeake (Va.) Grassfield defensive end Patrick Jones is in the process of setting up an official visit to Pitt.
Fresh off his first official visit to Virginia Tech two weeks ago, the 6-foot-5, 230 pound Class of 2016 prospect is now in the process of locking up a date for another official visit in about a month from now.

"I'm in the process of setting up an official visit with Pitt now," Jones said. "I'm trying to come up with a date right now. The coaches told me to pick a date, so I'm still working on that. I know that November 27th would probably work with my schedule, but that's as far as I've gotten on that. I still need to talk to the coaches and figure things out before I know for sure."
Jones said that he hopes to have a date locked up within the next week or two. He'll likely discuss it with assistant coach Rob Harley during their next conversation.
"I talk to Coach Harley weekly," said Jones. "Recently, it's mainly been about getting me up there to see a game. That's the main thing that we've talked about the last couple of times, so the next time I'm able to talk to him, I'll probably run that (Nov. 27) date by him. He told me to figure out when would be best, so I may be able to lock up a date then."
As for his relationship with Harley, Jones added, "He's a great guy. He's always been honest with me and he seems like a fun coach."
Since Jones plans to enroll early at the school of his choice, he'll have to make a decision by mid-December. However, there are a few other programs that he's interested in visiting, so that's another thing that needs to be worked out in the next few weeks.
"N.C. State, Cal and Duke are the other schools that I'm considering right now. I have talked to them about it. Nothing is set with them right now, but I would like to visit them if we can make it work."
Through seven games, Jones has recorded 49 total tackles. He has nine tackles for a loss of yards and five sacks. Grassfield is currently 7-1 on the year with two regular season games remaining.
