Uno Numero. Considered by most analysts to be the best athlete in Western Pennsylvania, the State of Pennsylvania and possibly the
best at his position in the country. Not bad for a young man who has yet to play his senior year in high school. Thus far in his career he has lead West Allegheny to a 35-5 record including two WPIAL Class AAA championships and back-to-back appearances in the PIAA championship game.
His goal is to win a third WPIAL as well as a state championship. A left-hander who possesses a broad knowledge of the game, an
ability to read defenses and his overall athletic ability. His numbers to date
include 3,428 yards passing and 41 touchdowns. In addition he has run for an
additional 1,112 yards and 24 touchdowns. A starter from day one for his father, Bob Palko, he is a throw back to the old smashmouth days of football. He will do whatever it takes to win. A leader on and off the field, Tyler is a Pittsburgh guy through and through.
Palko is also very effective on defense at his safety spot where he registered 156 tackles and picked off 12 opposition passes. He has received numerous accolades for his outstanding play including twice being
named the Tribune-Review Player-of-the-Year and being selected All-State on defense by the Associated Press on its Big Schools team.
He chose the University of Pittsburgh over numerous highly respected schools including Michigan, Virginia and Penn State, the final
four teams on his list.
