Stallings gets No. 1 for 2018

Kevin Stallings has landed his first commitment for the 2018 class.

Late Thursday night, Bryce Golden gave his word to the Pitt staff. The 6'8" forward from St. James (Md.) was recruited by several members of the Pitt staff in a joint effort, and after visiting the campus for a second time unofficially on Wednesday, he decided that he had seen all that he needed to see.

Golden, who projects as a pure forward, had offers from Temple, Penn State, Maryland, NC State, George Washington, Richmond and Wofford.

Golden is currently a three-star recruit and ranked No. 124 in the 2018 class and his commitment gives the staff some positive momentum. Plus, Golden is from an area that produces a lot of talent - an area the staff would like to target aggressively.

Gaining this commitment also puts the staff back in good graces with the Team Takeover AAU program.

Golden is a skilled four who plays hard on both ends and is unselfish. With Peace Ilegomah and Terrell Brown projecting more to the center spot, there could be ample playing time for Golden right from the start.

The Pitt staff should have at least two more scholarships to use in the 2018 class, depending on how the 2017 class shakes out.
