Poker picks the Panthers

Pitt added a linebacker to the recruiting class of 2013 on Wednesday when Oconomowoc (Wisc.) prospect Zach Poker committed to the Panthers.
Poker made his decision during a visit with Pitt head coach Paul Chryst, who was in Wisconsin for a series of in-home visits.

Syracuse, Air Force, Army, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, and North Dakota also offered Poker. At 6'4" 220, he could project on either side of the ball, but Poker said the Pitt coaches intend to start him on defense and see what develops.
Poker is Pitt's second linebacker in the class, along with Matt Galambos from the Haverford School. In total, Pitt now has 26 commitments in the class of 2013, including four recruits who enrolled at Pitt in January. Poker is the 10th recruit from outside Pennsylvania to commit to Pitt.
As a senior in 2012, Poker caught 50 passes for 753 yards and eight touchdowns. He was named to the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association all-state team.
