Pitt will formally debut its new uniforms on the field Sept. 3 when the Panthers open the 2016 season against Villanova, but on Tuesday, the players got to try them on for Media Day.

Here’s what they thought:

ZACH CHALLINGSWORTH
“I love them. They have a new swagger to them for the team. Look good, feel good, play good; that’s what they say. It’s just good for the program. It’s a new look, a new era; it’s a nice change.”

JARYD JONES-SMITH
They’re awesome. It goes perfectly with the new coaching staff. It’s a breath of fresh air: new coaches, new jerseys, new attitude. I love it.”

REGGIE MITCHELL
“I like the all-white with the blue helmet. And the all-blue. That’s tough.”

TERRISH WEBB
“I like the all-white, too. I’m an all-white type of guy.”

DONTEZ FORD
“It’s going to get the fans excited and obviously we’re all excited about the new uniforms. So it’s nice to see that it brings a new type of energy to the program. Obviously we have to carry that out and win games, but for now, it’s exciting to have the uniforms. I just can’t wait to go out and play in them.”

TYRIQUE JARRETT
“They look great. It’s an upgrade. I want to see the retro’s. I haven’t seen the retro’s yet. I’m excited about the jerseys. It’s a good look with the Pitt script. It looks good.”

ADAM BISNOWATY
“I like them. They’re pretty nice. Whatever you give me, I would wear. But it’s something different, and at least it has the script on it this year. They’re awesome.”

SCOTT ORNDOFF
“I like them. I think they’re different. They’ve had the same uniforms for awhile, so it’s exciting for my final year to get some new digs. I like the blue helmets. It’s a nice change.”

SHAKIR SOTO
“I love these jerseys. It’s pretty nice. They’re a lot better than the jerseys last year, especially the pants that we’re wearing. I’m excited for the change. I especially like the matte blue helmets. That’s my favorite thing about them.

“Pretty much the pretty boys on the team care about it, the skill players. A lot of people want to look good. They think the look good, feel good, play good thing. But personally with me it never really mattered. I’m not going to go out of my way to complain about the jerseys or pants.”

BRIAN O’NEILL
“They’re awesome. It’s a total new breath of fresh air and it represents everything Coach Narduzzi had brought into the program and the new found energy and life that’s in the program that maybe wasn’t there the past couple years.”
