One of Pitt's top linebacker targets in the 2018 class announced his top six schools on Friday morning, and the Panthers made the cut.
Penn State, Michigan, UCLA, West Virginia and Cincinnati were the other five schools to show up in Brian Asamoah's top group.
A 6'1" 205-pound three-star athlete prospect from Columbus (Oh.) DeSales, Asamoah projects as a linebacker at Pitt and he visited last weekend for the Panthers' Junior Day.
“I had an amazing time in Pittsburgh. It was a great morning there meeting with all of the coaches and seeing their plan for me in the near future, I’m excited,” Asamoah told Panther-Lair.com at the time. “They discussed the role I would be playing in and the academics side of things. I would be playing either the [STAR] or Money linebacker in their 4-3 base defense. I would be blitzing a lot and making plays in space.”
Pitt was one of the first schools to offer Asamoah when the staff extended a scholarship in October; at the time, Eastern Kentucky was his only offer.
"The fact that [Pitt] offered early really means a lot," Asamoah said. "They took a shot and they were my second offer, so it really means a lot. It sits well with me for sure.”
