Pitt lands commitment from 2023 WR Daidren Zipperer

Pitt scored a 45-24 victory on the field earlier today on the field against Rhode Island, and the Panthers also picked up a win on the recruiting trail as well. Daidren Zipperer announced on Saturday evening that he has committed to Pitt at a ceremony at his school. Zipperer is a 6'0" and 165-pound wide receiver prospect out of Lakeland High School in Florida.

Zipperer chose Pitt over a group of finalists that included BYU, UCF, South Carolina, South Florida, Arkansas State, and Utah. He took an official visit to UCF in June and most recently took one to South Florida earlier this month. Zipperer is graded as a three-star prospect according to Rivals.com.

Pitt hosted Zipperer for an official visit back on June 16th. The Florida receiver enjoyed his time in Pittsburgh and had built a strong connection with offensive coaches like Tiquan Underwood and Frank Cignetti Jr.

“Coming in I had high expectations, like everything was good,” Zipperer told Panther-Lair.com following his visit in June. “The players treated me like I was already there. The coaching staff, I felt like I was at my own house, I felt comfortable there.”

On August 7th, Pat Narduzzi tweeted out his usual 'Pitt is it' tweet' and that commitment is believed to be one for Zippeerer. To update Pitt's current recruiting class, all unaccounted 'Pat Signals' are now finalized following Zipperer's decision on Saturday.

Zipperer becomes the 19th member of the 2023 recruiting class for Pitt. He is also the fourth wide receiver prospect in the class joining Zion Fowler, Kenny Johnson, and Lamar Seymore.

He is a high school teammate of current cornerback commit Shadarian Harrison at Lakeland. The Lakeland program is one of the strongest in Florida, as the team is off to a current 3-0 start and it regularly churns out top talent, including former Pitt and current Denver Broncos cornerback Damarri Mathis.

Pitt lost out on the Hykeem Williams sweepstakes, as the Panthers top receiver target committed to Florida State yesterday. Still, the Panthers have a strong group of four receivers committed following Zipperer's decision. Stay tuned to Panther-Lair.com for more coverage on Zipperer's commitment.
