Pitt lands a tight end

Pitt’s weekend ended on a high note, as the Panthers landed commitment No. 21 for the recruiting class of 2021 when Schuylkill Haven (Pa.) Blue Mountain tight end Gavin Bartholomew picked Pitt.

Bartholomew, a 6’5” 245-pound three-star prospect, originally committed to Buffalo but flipped to the Panthers after picking up an offer last week.

Bartholomew did a little bit of everything for Blue Mountain this season, posting passing, rushing and receiving stats. He threw for 521 yards and four touchdowns, rushed for 145 yards and three scores and caught six passes for 131 yards and two more touchdowns.

When he worked primarily as a pass-catcher in 2019, Bartholomew caught 27 passes for 527 yards - 19.5 yards per catch - and five touchdowns.

Bartholomew is the second tight end to commit to Pitt in the class of 2021, joining IMG Academy/New Jersey native Jake Renda, who flipped to the Panthers from Michigan State in August.
