Pitt gets a QB

Pitt got its third commitment in the last week Thursday when Cincinnati (Oh.) Moeller quarterback Thomas MacVittie picked the Panthers.
MacVittie committed to Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt staff while visiting Thursday morning, a visit that came on the heels of his trip to Pitt on Saturday. He committed to the Panthers over offers from Cincinnati and Miami (OH).

MacVittie's slow recruitment was likely due to the fact that he only played one game last season while working behind a senior quarterback.
In that one appearance, MacVittie completed eight-of-eight passes for two touchdowns, and he is in line to be Moeller's starting quarterback this season.
MacVittie, 6'4" 210, came on Pitt's radar through his quarterback trainer, who has a long history with Pitt offensive coordinator Jim Chaney. One connection led to another, and Pitt offered MacVittie last month.
"I think he's an amazing coach," MacVittie said of Chaney when he spoke to Panther-Lair.com after getting his offer. "The whole staff is amazing, but Coach Chaney in particular is very high class. He knows what's best for the player and he's going to do that. From talking to him, we're already meshing, having fun, laughing, making jokes; he's just got a great personality and it has been easy to get to know him and talk to him."
MacVittie is the third recruit to commit to Pitt in the class of 2016, following Lakewood (Oh.) St. Edward defensive back Tony Butler, who committed on Saturday, and Upper St. Clair offensive lineman Brandon Ford, who committed Sunday.
