Pitt for Pitts

Pitt's annual run of June commitments continued this weekend as Woodland Hills cornerback Lafayette Pitts gave the Panthers his verbal pledge. Pitts is the eighth recruit to commit to Pitt in the class of 2011.
Pitts, 5'11" 185, lines up at running back and cornerback for Woodland Hills, but Pitt recruited him to play defense.

Pitts chose Pitt over offers from Illinois, Iowa, West Virginia, Maryland, Buffalo, and Kent State. He is the second Woodland Hills standout in as many classes to commit to Pitt, following 2010 defensive tackle Khaynin Mosley-Smith, who is currently enrolled on campus.
Pitt has also offered defensive end Quinton Jefferson and linebacker Ejuan Price in Woodland Hills' class of 2011.
Pitts is the fifth recruit to commit to Pitt this month. Sicklerville (NJ) Timber Creek linebacker Quinton Alston committed on June 5th, and he was followed by Dallastown (Pa.) linebacker Ben Kline two days later. On June 11th, Atco (NJ) Winslow Township athlete Bill Belton and Massillon (Oh.) Washington receiver Justin Olack joined the class.
Pitt's class of 2011 began in February with Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha tight end Sam Collura. In May, Ramsey (NJ) Don Bosco quarterback Gary Nova and Harrisburg (Pa.) Central Dauphin offensive lineman Artie Rowell committed to Pitt.
