Pitt commit Manigault is recovering well

Pitt's first commitment in the senior class, Corey Manigault, suffered a foot injury in late August during the Peach Jam.

Manigault was playing very well at the time, but the stress fracture forced him to shut it down for the summer. Since then, the recovery has gone well and the 6'8" forward is playing as well as he ever has as a senior.

Teaming with Louisville commit VJ King as senior leaders, Manigault has Paul IV is off to a 10-2 start against a very competitive schedule.

"The season is going well; we have played some good teams and we are getting better," Manigault told Panther-Lair.com. "I don't feel like we are playing our best yet, but that will come. Personally, I am averaging about 15 and 11."

Those numbers are quite impressive when you consider the talent around Manigault. King gets a majority of the shots, and sophomore Brandon Slater was just offered by Louisville, Miami, and Maryland. The most encouraging news for Pitt fans is that the long-armed post commitment seems to be healthy and still developing.

"It is getting there, but it still does flare up here and there," Manigault said. "I just have to be smart with it and take care of my body. It was difficult sitting out the end of AAU and all that, but it made me appreciate the game. I am close to 100% and I will be much better off when I get there."

Manigault has also kept an eye on Pitt's season, and has been a vocal supporter on social media while he watches.

"I have seen some of Pitt's games, the ones that were on TV, definitely following things and keeping up on it," he said. "You can see that the chemistry is there and it is a good atmosphere. I can't wait to get in that atmosphere and do whatever Coach (Jamie) Dixon asks of me. I think they have a chance to have a great season this year before I get there."
