“The direction of the program and the coaching staff played a huge role in choosing Pitt.”

Shortly after getting an offer from Pitt in early May, Kenny Pickett reopened his recruitment and decommitted from Temple.

Less than a month later, he made another verbal pledge when he committed to Pitt on Saturday.

“After my first visit was when I had a good feeling Pitt was the right spot for me,” Pickett said. “I committed now so I have an opportunity to start building my class.”

Pickett’s first visit followed his decommitment from Temple, and he was back on campus this weekend to make his commitment to head coach Pat Narduzzi in person.

“I love Coach Narduzzi and he is really moving the program in a great direction,” Pickett said. “The direction of the program and the coaching staff played a huge role in choosing Pitt.”

New offensive coordinator Matt Canada has prioritized a few traits in prospective quarterbacks, and it seems like he found what he was looking for in Pickett.

“Me and Coach Canada have a great relationship,” Pickett said. “We talk on a daily basis. He is a great coach and I think I’m a perfect fit for his offense.”

Pickett added that Canada likes “my accuracy and ability to be in the pocket as well as use my feet to make plays.”

Pickett, 6’3” 191, was also considering Boston College before making his commitment, but now, he says, his recruitment is over.

“I am 100% committed to Pitt.”

As a senior at Oakhurst (NJ) Ocean Township, Pickett completed 64.2% of his passes, throwing for 1,796 yards, 19 touchdowns and four interceptions while also rushing for 336 yards and five touchdowns. The team went 9-2 and lost in the Central Jersey Group 3 semifinals.
