Charles Reeves became the 15th player to sign with Pitt’s football program in the 2017 recruiting class on National Signing Day, joining his classmates signing today and four early enrollees who have already been in class at Pitt. First mention on Rivals: Reeves first found attention on Rivals when he popped up as an impressive prospect at Ohio State's summer prospect camp in June of 2015. The big-bodied tight end came out of nowhere at the end of his sophomore year of high school and picked up several big offers.

Reeves commits to Pitt: Reeves became the 16th commit to join Pitt's 2017 recruiting class when he committed to the Panthers on October 26th of 2016. The big tight end chose Pitt over offers from Kentucky (where he was formerly committed), Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State, Nebraska, Michigan State, and many others. He's one of the highest-rated recruits in Pitt's 2017 class.

In his words: “I just really like the offense that they run at Pitt and I had a really good connection with (Pitt head coach Pat) Narduzzi and (Pitt tight ends coach Tim) Salem. I talk with those guys every day or every other day. They’re cool guys, very cool, and we get along well,” Reeves told Panther-Lair.com. “Coach Narduzzi really was the difference [between Pitt and other schools recruiting Reeves]. He’s laid back and cool. He reminds a lot of our coach here at Steubenville, coach Reno [Saccoccia]."

Reeves' impact: "It’s an old cliché, but you simply cannot teach the traits that Reeves possesses with his 6-foot-5, 240-pound frame and the athleticism to get downfield in a hurry. There are plenty of tight ends with his size, and some with his level of athleticism, but few that possess both. Reeves is a natural in the passing game and his ball skills are refined. He locates and adjusts to the football with ease when it’s in the air, something he’s refined over his time spent with Steubenville’s offense." Read more from the Film Room Friday breakdown.

From the coach: “He’s a kid that just loves life. He’s a beautiful kid and he’s just a kid that you can count to be there for you – that’s not even talking about football play or practice, that’s just him as a human and as a kid. He has great discipline and great home discipline,” Steubenville head coach Reno Saccoccia explained. “That’s what I like most about him, but secondly I love the way that he plays football and basketball. He’s just a good athlete and I’m glad he’s on our team. I wish him the best of luck when he goes to Pitt, he’ll have some great people.”
