Florida RB commits to Pitt

Sekai Lindsay knew he liked Pitt, but he wanted to hold off on a commitment until he got a chance to visit.
Sometimes plans change, though, and the Melbourne (Fla.) Palm Bay running back decided to commit this week.

"I talked to Coach (John) Settle on Friday and made it public today," Lindsay told Panther-Lair.com on Saturday. "I just felt like that was where I wanted to be and it was where I fit. My coaches said it was a good fit and it seems like the best place for me.
"I just kept thinking about playing at Pitt; every time I thought about playing college football, I saw myself in a Pitt uniform."
Lindsay picked Pitt over offers from Cincinnati, Florida International, Georgia Tech, Idaho, Indiana, UMass, N.C. State, South Florida, Temple and Georgia Southern. He camped at Florida earlier this week, and during the spring he visited Georgia Tech, Miami, FIU, USF and Georgia, but he never made the trip north to Pitt.
The lack of a visit was a sticking point for the 5'10" 205-pound three-star prospect, but several factors led Lindsay to pull the trigger rather than wait any longer. Among those factors was Pitt's projected class size for the 2015 recruiting class, which is, in a word, small.
"They're only taking one running back, and that was something I was considering," Lindsay said. "Coach Settle told me they would wait for me, but they just couldn't wait until January or something like that.
"I called Coach Settle on Wednesday when I was leaving Florida and he mentioned that I could commit. Then we talked on Twitter on Friday and I told him I wanted to commit. He said 'Great, congratulations' and that he was going to go tell Coach (Paul) Chryst.
"Then I talked to Coach Settle again [Saturday], and he said everything's good and they're all excited to have me."
Part of the draw for Lindsay was Pitt's offensive attack. Chryst and Settle want to establish the running game, and Lindsay likes that approach.
"I like the offense; it's similar to what my high school runs and what I enjoy," he said. "I think I'm a good fit in that kind of offense. It's a downhill rushing attack and they want to run the ball a lot. That's what I want to do."
Lindsay's commitment gives Pitt nine recruits for the class of 2015. He joins Kettering (Oh.) Archbishop Alter defensive tackle Kraig Howe, Apollo-Ridge receiver Tre Tipton, Canon-McMillan offensive lineman Alex Paulina, Altoona linebacker Kevin Givens, Kittanning tight end Nick Bowers, Malvern Prep quarterback Alex Hornibrook, Wilmington (Del.) Alexis I Dupont receiver Quadree Henderson and Hallandale Beach (Fla.) Hallandale defensive back Malik Henderson.
