Dixon gets another international center

A year after bringing New Zealand native Steven Adams onto the U.S. basketball radar, Jamie Dixon has added another international big man to his roster. On Friday, Canarias Basketball Academy announced that Shaquille Doorson has committed to the Panthers and signed a Letter of Intent to attend Pitt.
Doorson, a 6'11" center prospect and native of the Netherlands, was enrolled in the one-year post-graduate program at CBA.

"This was always the goal for me and the reason why I came to CBA," Doorson said in a press release. "My dream has come true, to know I'll be playing in the ACC under a great coach and at a great program in a power house conference. I can only thank Rob Orellana and his coaching staff for pushing me every day to make this dream become a reality."
Orellana, the director of CBA, praised Doorson's development in the one-year program and has high expectations for what Doorson should be able to achieve at Pitt.
"In his short time here Shaquille has taken huge strides and he is a true credit himself and to CBA; this is a great move for him as he will be challenged every day and I really believe that his continued development will flourish under the guidance of head coach Jamie Dixon".
Doorson is the third recruit to sign with Pitt in the class of 2014, and the trio will bring serious size to the Panthers next year. Former Beaver Falls standout and Vanderbilt transfer Sheldon Jeter - who is spending a year at Polk State College in Florida - is 6'8" and Hampton forward Ryan Luther also checks in at 6'8".
