Depth chart stays the same entering Week Four

Pitt released its updated two-deep on Monday, and the coaching staff made exactly zero changes to the depth chart.

The lack of changes comes despite considerable injury issues plaguing the Panthers. That includes four players who didn’t travel with the team for its 34-13 win at Western Michigan on Saturday night - quarterback Nick Patti, running back Rodney Hammond, center Owen Drexel and defensive tackle Devin Danielson - all four of which are still listed as starters or top backups on this week’s two-deep.

Beyond those obvious instances, the depth chart more or less reflects what Pitt is likely to roll with, for the most part.

Here’s a look at this week’s two-deep.

- Gabe Houy continues to be listed as a co-starter at right tackle with Matt Goncalves, although Houy hasn’t played yet this season.

- As mentioned above, Drexel didn’t make the trip to Kalamazoo, so Jake Kradel slid from right guard to center and Blake Zubovic stepped into the starting lineup at right guard.

- Of course, the biggest depth chart change on Saturday night was at quarterback, where Patti didn’t travel and Kedon Slovis didn’t play, putting redshirt freshman Nate Yarnell in a starting role for the first playing time of his college career. Yarnell performed well and is likely to stay in place as Slovis’ backup while Patti is out.

The defensive two-deep really hasn’t changed all season. That’s perhaps most notable at the outside linebacker positions, where Solomon DeShields is listed as the backup to Bangally Kamara at Star and Tylar Wiltz is behind Shayne Simon at Money - despite DeShields playing Money and Wiltz playing Star.
