- The most notable development on offense was at quarterback, where the coaches listed Max Browne as the lone starter. For the last two weeks, Browne and Ben DiNucci had an "OR" between them; two weeks ago, that led to DiNucci starting at Georgia Tech and this past week, Browne got the start against Rice.
Browne turned that start into 410 yards and four touchdowns, apparently earning him the starting job for this week at Syracuse.
- The coaches adjusted the offensive line two-deep a bit from last week. At right tackle, Alex Bookser is the lone starter; last week, he was an "OR" starter with Jaryd Jones-Smith, but Bookser got the start against Rice and played all of the snaps until Jones-Smith came in for the final two drives of the game.
At right guard, Mike Herndon and Brandon Hodges are "OR" starters; they split reps in the Rice game, with Herndon playing seven possessions and Hodges playing four. The coaches also kept an "OR" at center between Jimmy Morrissey and Connor Dintino; that "OR" was there last week, and in the game, Morrissey started and played seven of the 11 possessions.
- Fullback George Aston was on the depth chart last week, but he got hurt on Pitt's first drive Saturday - his second snap of the game - and limped off the field gingerly. This week, neither Aston nor the fullback position appears on the two-deep. Instead, the coaches added a third receiver listing (Maurice Ffrench and Aaron Mathews).

- There were a few small changes on defense. The first was at defensive end; all season, Dewayne Hendrix and Rashad Weaver were listed as "OR" starters at one of the end spots, but Hendrix has started every game and Weaver has started just one.
Weaver's one start was in the Georgia Tech game, when he played ahead of Allen Edwards, and this week, those two are "OR" starters at the other end spot opposite Hendrix.
- At linebacker, the names are all the same as they were last week, although the coaches added an "OR" between Chase Pine and Elias Reynolds at backup middle linebacker. Pine played 17 snaps on defense Saturday, but none were at middle linebacker (nine in the third-down package and eight at Money linebacker).
Reynolds, on the other hand, played 19 snaps against Rice and all 19 were at middle linebacker. He appears to be the top backup behind Saleem Brightwell at this point; or, at the very least, he was on Saturday.
- And there was one minor addition in the secondary, as redshirt junior Phillippie Motley was added as an "OR" backup with Jason Pinnock behind Avonte Maddox at cornerback. Motley, who started two games last season, was injured in training camp and has not played in a game so far in 2017. His appearance on the depth chart could mean he is close to seeing the field.
