On Wednesday, Pitt landed one of its most significant commitments of the class from Fort Myers (Fla.) Dunbar wide receiver Shocky Jacques-Louis. Jacques-Louis, a three-star athlete from Florida, chose Pitt over offers from programs like Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Georgia, Missouri, and others. The 6-foot, 170-pound prospect came down to a final three of Pitt, Kentucky, and Tennessee before making his decision on the first day of the early signing period.

Jacques-Louis emerged as a serious option for Pitt late in the game after taking an official visit to campus on December 1st. He had previously been committed to Tennessee, but decommitted during the period of turmoil around head coach Butch Jones' job status. Jacques-Louis also took official visits to Kentucky (September 22nd), Tennessee (September 29th), Michigan (October 6th), and Michigan State (November 3rd).

Jacques-Louis will sign with Pitt today during the first day of the early signing period and formalize his commitment. He is the 17th commitment in Pitt's 2018 recruiting class and the second wide receiver to join the class, joining Alabama product Cameron O'Neil. Jacques-Louis is ranked as the 26th overall athlete prospect in the country and the 85th-best prospect in the state of Florida, regardless of position. Although he's listed as an athlete, Jacques-Louis is expected to play wide receiver at Pitt. Jacques-Louis is the third Florida prospect to sign with Pitt in 2018, joining defensive backs V'Lique Carter and Marquis Williams.

Prior to Jacques-Louis' commitment, Pitt's recruiting class was tied for the 42nd spot in the Rivals.com 2018 team recruiting rankings with Iowa at 1275 points. As a 5.7 three-star prospect, Jacques-Louis is worth 90 points in the recruiting rankings and, at the time of writing, jumps Pitt from 42nd to 39th. The commitment jumps Pitt ahead of Iowa, Purdue, Florida, and Rutgers. On days as busy as National Signing Day, team recruiting rankings change fast and furiously and it's best to take the numbers listed with a grain of salt as commitment statuses change rapidly.
