In a long-awaited moment for Pitt fans, standout Wayne (N.J.) offensive tackle Carter Warren announced his commitment to the Panthers on Saturday’s game day against Georgia Tech. Warren is a senior prospect in the class of 2017 who chose head coach Pat Narduzzi’s Pitt program over offers from Penn State, Tennessee, North Carolina, Michigan, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, and many others.

"After months of consideration and discussion with my family, I have decided to commit to the University of Pittsburgh where I will proudly wear the Panthers uniform for the next four years," Warren said in a statement on Twitter. "I am grateful for this opportunity, and would like to first and foremost thank God for providing me the strength and determination to be able to pursue this dream. I would also like to thank my parents and sister for their support and many sacrifices they have made for me. I would also like to thank coach Demarest and the staff, as well as Mr. Limekiller for assisting me in this process, #H2P."

The commitment comes after a tweet from Narduzzi on September 11th - one of his infamous "Pat Signals" - that gave the notice a commitment would be coming later for Pitt. Rumors abounded that the recruit was one of many possibilities and it's still unclear if Warren is the rumored "silent commit."

Warren is a 6-foot-6, 265-pound true offensive tackle prospect who should give the Panthers immediate depth along the offensive line. Warren is Pitt’s 15th commitment in the 2017 class and is tied for the second-highest-rated prospect to commit to the Panthers in this cycle. Warren, a three-star recruit, is Pitt’s third offensive line commit, joining Pittsburgh-area verbal Gabe Houy and fellow New Jersey native and close friend Owen Drexel. Warren is the 11th prospect to join the class rated by Rivals.com as being a three-star or better prospect and he is the third commit to join the class from the state of New Jersey.

Prior to Warren’s commitment, Pitt’s recruiting class was rated as the 56th-best group in the 2017 cycle. Barring any changes or commitments immediately prior to Warren, Pitt’s class will jump to the 44th-rated group in the country by Rivals. Pitt is 15th among recruiting classes with 15 or less commits to date.
