Pitt received its 20th commitment of the 2017 recruiting class today when cornerback Jason Pinnock of Windsor (Conn.) announced his intentions to join the Panthers’ class. Pinnock is a 6-foot, 180-pound corner who had been committed to Boston College for several months until an offer from Pitt and interest from schools like Notre Dame and Syracuse led to him decommitting from the Eagles.

Pinnock committed immediately following an official visit to Pitt’s campus that began on the weekend of January 13th. The corner had been in touch with Pitt coaches for months, including defensive coordinator Josh Conklin, head coach Pat Narduzzi, and assistant Tim Salem, among others. While he was not a player on Pitt’s board early on, a visit from Conklin to Pinnock’s high school for a game during the season greatly impressed the coordinator and led to the Connecticut native becoming a priority for Pitt. Pinnock is a late bloomer in recruiting, and is now rated as a 5.5 three-star on Rivals.com.

Pat Narduzzi’s Panthers program now has two cornerback commitments in the class, with pledges coming from Pinnock and Lakeland (Fla.) cornerback Damarri Mathis; Rivals100 safety Paris Ford of Munhall (Pa.) rounds out the defensive secondary commitments for Pitt.

Stay tuned for more information on Pinnock’s commitment and a breakdown of what the standout cornerback could bring to the table at Pitt. You can view Pinnock's senior highlights at this link.
