2012-13 hoops schedule released

The University of Pittsburgh announced its complete 2012-13 men's basketball on schedule on Monday with tipoff times, additional national, ESPN Regional/Big East Network and local television games. Each event on Pitt's basketball schedule will be televised nationally or regionally in some form. Updates include:
*ESPN announced on Monday that Pitt's Outdoor Midnight Madness/Basketball on Bigelow event on Friday, Oct. 12 will be televised in its entirety on ESPN3 along with live updates on its national Midnight Madness Show, which airs on ESPNU. ESPN reporter Bob Picozzi and a color analyst to be named later will be on site that evening to provide live updates and highlights from Bigelow Boulevard.

*Pitt will host its annual Maggie Dixon Heart Health Fair (noon) and Blue-Gold Scrimmage (2 p.m.) on Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Petersen Events Center. The Blue-Gold Scrimmage will be televised live on Pitt Panthers Television (Comcast Network Channel 188 or 210).
*ESPN Regional released its five-game viewing schedule. Contests slated for ROOT Sports include DePaul (Jan. 26), at St. John's (Feb. 24), South Florida (Feb. 27) and Villanova (March 3), while the March 9 contest at DePaul will be nationally syndicated as the Big East Game of the Week and aired locally on WTAE (Channel 4). ESPN3 will also broadcast Pitt's season opener at the Petersen Events Center against Mount St. Mary's (Nov. 9), Detroit (Dec. 1), the City Game vs. Duquesne at Consol Energy Center (Dec. 5), North Florida (Dec. 8) and Bethune Cookman (Dec. 15).
*Pitt Panthers Television also announced its seven-event live viewing schedule which includes coverage of the Blue-Gold Scrimmage (Oct. 14), exhibition games vs. Indiana, Pa. (Oct. 26) and Hawaii-Hilo (Nov. 2), Oakland (Nov. 17), Howard (Nov. 27), Delaware State (Dec. 19) and Kennesaw State (Dec. 23).
*Two road contests were also finalized. Pitt will play at Villanova's Pavilion on Jan. 16 and the Panthers' contest at Cincinnati on Feb. 9 has been slated as a potential ESPN College GameDay broadcast. Tipoff times for that date are either 6 p.m. (ESPN2) or 9 p.m. (ESPN) if selected for ESPN College GameDay.
