2006 ABCD Player Eval: Travon Woodall
Teaneck, N.J. -- Travon Woodall, Class of 2008, 6'1", 181 lb, Guard from St. Anthony's (NJ) was in action at the 2006 Reebok ABCD Camp last week. Here is an evaluation of his play in the event. St. Anthony's has a rich tradition of great guard play and Travon Woodall lives up to that tradition.
Strengths: Woodall has quickness, toughness, a solid handle and good court vision. Travon showed the ability to both distribute the ball and be a threat to score. His assist-to-turnover ratio was solid. He proved capable of creating offense off the dribble both in half-court and in transition.
His highlight play of the tournament was a strip of Brandon Jennings at one end of the court that he finished with a one-hand breakaway jam on the other end. He truly came to play in the game against
Showed good athleticism and hops. Smart, team-oriented player. Nice stroke at the free-throw line.
Weaknesses: 6'1", 181 lbs. appeared to be generous measurements - Woodall seemed to be two inches shorter and at least 15 pounds lighter.
Taller guards have the ability to shoot over him. He didn't shoot a high percentage from the floor and at times struggled to get quality looks against even the second tier PGs in the camp. Needs to improve his jumper from beyond the arc.
Woodall tied for 4th in the camp in steals and 7th in FT shooting percentage.
Among Juniors, he was 1st in FT shooting percentage, tied for 8th in scoring, was 3rd in steals, and was 4th in assists.
