Lone Star showdown

The Lone Star state has never been short of high school football talent. In the past, the NIKE Training Camp has featured those future college and pro stars at the always big event in Texas and this year looks to be no different.

In a deep year for quarterbacks, several gunslingers will lead the way to the event in College Station, Texas this weekend. Top players such as Brenham's Jarrett Lee, Gilmer's G.J. Kinne, Beaumont Westbrook's Joe Chaisson, Allen's Nathan Dick, and 2008 Southlake Carroll standout Riley Dodge are just a few that look to put on a show Saturday.

Those quarterbacks already have multiple options in regards to scholarship offers.

Lee has offers in hand from Arizona, Kansas State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and Wisconsin just to name a few. The in-state schools are currently battling out-of-state teams like the Huskers for his services.

Chaisson has gone from one to many in regards to offer count. Baylor, Indiana, Iowa State, and Tennessee are currently on the table but Texas programs could be getting involved soon.

Dick could be adding more offers soon, but does hold one from SMU. Dodge looks to be just another highly recruited quarterback in the long line at Carroll.

There will be plenty of good wide receiver targets to throw to at this year's event. Rivals100 member Dez Bryant from Lufkin, Texas will certainly be one of the show-stoppers on hand. Fellow pre-evaluation Rivals100 member Terrance Toliver also plans to show up making it one of the better events for that position in recent memory. Those two will be joined by prospects such as Round Rock, Texas pass-catcher James Kirkendoll and Cedar Hill's William Cole.

Athletic prospects still sharing time at multiple positions such as speedsters Christian Scott and Ron Brooks will be making an appearance as well. Billy Chavis looks to be a top flight wide receiver/tight end prospect, but could work out with a number of different positions.

Brooks currently holds offers from Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas A&M, and others. However, he continues to talk about a possible offer from Texas.

Defensive prospects aren't shying away with all of the top offensive performers. Rivals100 defensive end Richetti Jones plans to make his way to College Station to go up against prospects such as Texas-commit Russell Carter, Schertz-Clemens defensive tackle Tyrell Higgins and La Marque's Raphael Guidry.

The safeties and cornerbacks will be bringing big competition as well. South Garland's Tejay Johnson, who sports several early offers, will go up against the likes of James Thomas, Curtis Thomas, Shawn Sullivan, and Derrius Bell. All of those prospects are being recruited heavily with early offers in their grasp.
