Ole Miss still leads for Hollins
Hollins scouting video
Jonathan Hollins of Baton Rouge (La.) Redemptorist High School still has Ole Miss in the lead for his services but is attempting to improve his stock before he makes a verbal pledge to a school.
"Since his performance in Oxford at this year's Nike Camp, Hollins has picked up an offer recently from the University of Houston but has otherwise seen his stock go down for whatever reason.
Ole Miss is by far my favorite," Hollins said.
"I have a new offer from Houston and I went to the LSU camp," Hollins said. "LSU just got a commitment from a couple of defensive linemen and I don't know if they will offer or not."
One thing that has motivated Hollins is the fact that he dropped out of the pre-season Rivals.com top 100 team.
"I was in the pre-evaluation top 100 and now I'm not in the preseason 100 and it's motivated me beyond belief," Hollins said. "I'm working hard than ever this summer; I plan on being in the top 100 at the end of the season."
"Ole Miss is still recruiting me hard, the Rebels are still my number one favorite followed by Texas Tech, Southern Mississippi and Houston," said Hollins.
The 6-foot-2.5, 226-pound Hollins runs the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds. He has a 270-pound bench press and a 405-pound squat, as well as a 28-inch vertical jump. As a junior Hollins collected 58 tackles, five tackles for loss and seven sacks as a junior enroute to earning first team all-state, all-metro and all-district honors.
Hollins admits he has considered commiting to a university early but now thinks he will wait it out until sometime during the season.
"I want to have a great senior season, once that occurs we will see what happens," said Hollins. "I love the campus and the coaches at Ole Miss, I just want to make sure I make the right decision for me and the school I decide to go to"
