John Simonitis OG/DT 6-5 290 5.0 is a young (16 years of age) with a tremendous upside to him. John is only entering his third year of organized football having started on the Dallas, PA basketball team the past three seasons. Missing the first four games last season with a torn MCL, Simonitis came back with a venegance and finished his junior campaign by being selected to the Northeast PA Football Conference All-Star first team at defensive tackle.

Projected as an offensive guard with the Panthers, he attended summer camp at Pitt, PSU and WVU. John was named the top lineman at both the Pitt and WVU camps. He shows good strenth (300lb bench press) and mobility for his size.

Simonitis plans to major in criminal justice at the University of Pittsburgh with an eye on becoming an FBI agent when his playing days are over. He carries a 2.8 GPA.

His coach, Ted Jackson, says "Pitt's getting a forceful guy, whatever side of the ball they play him." He expects John to be one of the top performers in the area this fall.

When asked why he opted for Pitt, John replied, "I liked the coaches, campus, facilities and the city." John chose the Panthers over Temple, Hofstra, West Virginia and Penn State.
