Tremel commits to Clemson
Taylor Tremel 6-4, 260, 5.0). Tremel committed to Swinney late Sunday night, ending his recruiting shortly after he was offered prior to attending Clemson's summer camp this month.Clemson wide receivers coach Dabo Swinney has picked up the Tigers' fourth verbal commitment of the 2003-04 recruiting campaign in Lake Mary, Fla. offensive lineman
"He committed to Coach Swinney last night. Coach Swinney was very, very excited. I actually called Coach Swinney Friday and told him that Taylor wanted to go ahead and commit. We called last night and got it out of the way. It's done. He's a Tiger," said Paul Tremel, Taylor's father.
The Lake Mary star had a very good workout at camp earlier this month, a showing that impressed not only Swinney, but offensive line coach Ron West as well.
"Clemson really offers us a lot. He's being taught by professors in class, not GA's. He's going to get a great education, and from the standpoint of division I-A ball, it's right up there at the top," said Mr. Tremel.
Other suitors that recruited the Florida trenchman include North Carolina, Ole Miss, Kansas State, West Virginia, Memphis, Southern Mississippi, East Carolina, Wake Forest, Central Florida and South Florida.
Tremel benches 280 and squats 460. His GPA is at a 2.8 (overall) with a 1050 on the SAT.
The commitment comes as no surprise to Clemson recruiting enthusiasts, as last week, as was reported here on Tigerillustrated.com, Tremel stated that he wanted to commit to Clemson soon, citing a 99.9% chance he would do so.
He is the second pledge for Swinney this summer. Swinney is also responsible for the commitment of offensive lineman Bobby Hutchinston.
