The Recap: Catching up on Pitt recruiting

The last week has been very hectic, as Pitt landed 10 commitments since last Friday in a run that is, by all accounts, without precedent.

In case you missed anything, here's a rundown of the recruiting coverage from the last week so you can get caught up.

- Newburgh (NY) safety Jalen Williams got the run of commitments started last Friday when he pulled the trigger while on campus for an official visit.

- Later that day, Washington running back Shai McKenzie named his top five, and Pitt came in at No. 2.

- 2015 offensive lineman Sterling Jenkins is one of Pitt's top targets in the next class, and he visited Pitt last weekend.

- Four-star receiver Juwann Winfree visited Pitt last weekend as well, and he still likes the Panthers.

- On Tuesday, the run of commitments started. First was Ohio quarterback Adam Bertke, who committed while he was visiting.

- Then Shady Side athlete Dennis Briggs made the call and committed.

- Pitt also hosted a pair of four-star visitors on Tuesday. Virginia receiver Jamil Kamara was one of them, and after he left, he said the Panthers will be in his recruitment until the end.

- Four-star Gateway safety Montae Nicholson was also on campus Tuesday, and he's got a very strong relationship with the Pitt coaches.

- Wednesday started strong for Pitt - quite literally - as four-star Bethel Park offensive lineman Mike Grimm announced his commitment in the morning.

Grimm is Pitt's highest-rated recruit in the class so far, and Rivals.com offered an analysis of what his commitment means for the Panthers.

- Around noon on Wednesday, Pitt got another commitment when West Catholic safety Patrick Amara announced his verbal.

- Later Wednesday night, Pitt landed a third commitment with the verbal of Detroit cornerback Avonte Maddox.

- Thursday was quiet until late in the day, and then Pitt went on another run. First up was Virginia defensive tackle Mike Herndon, who committed while in town for an unofficial visit.

- Then Fox Chapel linebacker Quintin Wirginis acted on the offer he received earlier in the week and committed.

- And before the night was over, Connecticut defensive tackle Connor Dintino decided he knew where he wanted to go and committed to Pitt.

- Pitt also hosted North Allegheny receiver Elijah Zeise on Thursday, and while he didn't commit, the Panthers are high on his list.

- Friday morning, Pitt added one more commitment in the person of Cincinnati defensive end Shane Roy.
