Three players charged with simple assault

Three Pitt starters were charged with simple assault and conspiracy following a fight in Oakland last month, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Summons were issued for Ray Graham, Devin Street, and Lafayette Pitts on Thursday for their involvement in an altercation on Oct. 21. According to the report, the three players surrounded another man and Street punched him.

According to the report, the man refused medical treatment.

Graham, Street, and Pitts will receive the summonses in the mail and will have preliminary hearings on Jan. 9, 2013.

All three players are starters and key contributors for Pitt. Graham is Pitt's leading rusher this season with 622 yards and seven touchdowns, and Street is Pitt's leading receiver with 50 catches for 695 yards and four touchdowns. Pitts is a redshirt freshman in his first year as a starter, and he has recorded five pass breakups and one interception this season.

Pitt (4-4, 1-3) plays at No. 3 Notre Dame (8-0) on Saturday. Graham, Street, and Pitts are not expected to be suspended for the game.
