Free Preview: The talented Matt Moore
Matt Moore (6-4, 180, 4.7) from Newhall (Calif.) Hart. One of the two standout quarterbacks on their way to Westwood is
This young man is truly special, blessed with great instincts and leadership ability. Moore has all the intangibles that are necessary to be a successful D-I quarterback.
BruinBlitz was in the audience for Moore's first game last season against Wilmington (Calif.) Banning. The game became very ugly with Moore taking a lot of cheap and late shots.
Many less poised quarterbacks would have retaliated only to get penalized. Not Moore, he just kept lining up and kept after it within the rules.
To give you an idea of how rough it got out on the field several Banning players were suspended for their next game.
Moore went on to be selected all-CIF and lead Hart high school to their fourth consecutive Division III SS CIF championship and a perfect 13-0 record.
BruinBlitz was also in attendance when Hart played Valencia for the championship. They say great players play great in pressure situations. Moore was unstoppable that night as he led Hart to victory that night. Truly an amazing performance by Moore.
UCLA gets a good quarterback with tremendous upsides. He has been working hard with training book supplied by UCLA and he throws three to four times a week.
Moore has also been seen hanging around UCLA trying to learn as much as possible.
"I've always wanted to play for UCLA," Moore said. "I would have gone to UCLA if they were 0-10."
"A lot of people choose a school just because their program happens to be winning at the time," Moore said. "They have no love for the school."
"I've wanted to be a Bruin since day one."
Moore comes from excellent bloodlines. His grandfather and father both played professional baseball.
Moore was ranked by PrepStar magazine as the west coast's #5 rated signal caller.
This is what BruinBlitz had to say about the talented Mr. Moore in our LOI wrap-up earlier in the year:
QB Matt Moore (6-4, 180, 4.65) from Newhall-Hart (CA) has all the physical tools to be a great quarterback for the Bruins. He's tough, has a strong arm, makes great decisions and has outstanding leadership skills. Moore led his team to their fourth straight CIF Championship and his performance in that championship game was nothing short of stellar! Matt was 14 of 18 passes for 277 yards and four touchdowns and running 15 times for 95 yards and one TD. For the year, Matt threw for 3,350 yards and 33 TDs.
