McClain Surprise Some with Indecision
Oklahoma's spring game was a viewing spectacle for some of the nation's biggest names at the wide receiver position, but one player that may not have had as much national notoriety as his counterparts but was a focal point of Sooner attention was Cibolo (Texas) Steele receiver Sheldon McClain. The 6-foot-2, 174-pound receiver made the drive to Norman on Friday and enjoyed his two days on campus.
While it was his second trip to an Oklahoma event this spring he had a chance to spend more time with receivers coach Jay Norvell in the second go-around not to mention more time spent learning about Oklahoma's academic and athletic facilities.
"The visit went real well, I enjoyed everything. They showed me some great hospitality," McClain said. "The first day I was there it was more of the coaches, I was around coach Norvell. On the second day it was more of the recruits I was hanging around.
"I got a real good impression (of Norvell), he is a great man, he has great coaching tactics. I enjoyed hanging out with him that day. He didn't get that in-depth about where I would play but said I could be a great part of the offense.
"This time I got to see more of the athletic area, more of the campus and particularly the academic aspect of the school."
