Newton one of Midwest's best

He's 6-foot-4, 215-pounds and still growing. As a junior, he threw for 1,882 yards with 25 touchdowns, and rushed for 753 yards with 11 touchdowns while leading his team to the state championship. He recently set his school's record for most touchdown passes in a season, surpassing former Purdue and NFL quarterback Mark Herrmann's mark from 1976. He was the consensus first-team all-state quarterback. He is an honor roll student. And he's still only 16 years old.

His name is Morgan Newton and he is Carmel (Ind.) High's promising young quarterback.
