Roberts making the rounds
After churning out prospect after prospect over the last few years including the likes of Phillip Payne(Texas), Joseph Ibiloye(OU) his older brother Alex (TCU), Del Howard (Missouri) and Nick Richmond(TCU) just to name a few, it's easy to see why college recruiters flock to the fertile grounds of South Garland High School to see who might be the next great prospect. With guys like Austin Moss and Jeramie Roberts ready to emerge this year, PurpleMenace.Com caught up with Roberts to see how the recruiting process was going for him.
"It's going pretty well actually, it's really picking up. I'm hearing from a lot of people right now and it's pretty exciting."
With all of the recent attention, has TCU been one of the schools that have contacted the monster offensive lineman?
"Yes sir, they have been sending me letters, they sent me a junior day invite but I couldn't make it. They asked me to come by to see their spring practices so I plan on doing that."
It was reported earlier that Roberts had a Miami offer in hand but that's not exactly 100% accurate.
"I don't have the offer yet but they told me they were going to offer. I'm waiting on offers from Baylor and Kansas too, they are both supposed to offer pretty soon. I plan on visiting a couple of other campuses this week too. I'm going to Baylor and SMU in addition to TCU."
With recent invites to come in for a visit from schools like Louisville, SMU, TCU, Baylor, Kansas and a few others, it's clear that Roberts is making a few early waves. With the process picking up for the talented lineman, I asked him what position he was being recruited for the most and what his timetable looked like for a decision.
"I'm being recruited as an offensive lineman mainly, I play defensive line too but all of the schools I've talked to are looking at me on the offensive side of the ball. As far as a decision goes, I would like to make it sometime before August so that I can focus on my senior year."
Stay tuned to PurpleMenace.Com to see where this talented prospect ultimately winds up.
