Class of 2010 Southern Invitational Player Evals

Class of 2010:

Kendall Marshall, 6'2", Guard, MD, Bishop O'Connell

Great poise and court demeanor. Marshall plays the game at a controlled pace - he understands when to push tempo and when to hold back. Marshall showed some ability to get to the rim but normally doesn't frequently use one-on-one breakdown skills in the half-court. Most guards his age over-dribble - Marshall instead uses quick passes to keep the defense off balance. He is skilled at using ball fakes against his defender to create enough space and time to get off his quick release, generally accurate jumper. Marshall has a great combination of three-point range and the ability to create offense off the dribble. A fabulous, old-school PG prospect! He is ranked by some recruiting services among the Top 20 players nationally in the HS Class of 2010.

Dion Waiters, 6'2" Guard, Philadelphia, PA, John Bartam

Waiters has a very strong build for a 2010 guard. He uses his strength and good ball-handling skills to get mid-range jumpers or to power all the way to the hole. Though he couldn't get his shot to drop on Saturday night - his form is good and he is known for his scoring abilities. He posted 9 points on only 1-15 shooting from the floor in what was a very low scoring game for his entire team … despite these poor shooting stats he stood out as a prospect with the potential to be a big-time scorer. He teams well with Tony Chenault in the backcourt for the Team Final 16s. Waiters is reminiscent of Randy Foye in his ability to use his strength and handle to get his own shot off the bounce. His game would fit wonderfully in Jay Wright's offense at Villanova. Waiters is ranked by some recruiting services among the Top 20 players nationally in the HS Class of 2010.
