Tech signee arriving much earlier than expected

It's the time of year that high school seniors around the country are playing close attention to their grades, making sure that they are all set and will have enough credits to graduate in late May. But for Flower Mound Marcus senior David Neill, the sigh of relief came much earlier in the spring.

It was a few weeks ago, towards the end of a nine week semester, when Neill was looking at his transcript and saw something interesting.

Almost immediately, Neill picked up the phone and called Texas Tech defensive tackle coach Ruffin McNeill.

After losing three senior defensive tackles last year, the Red Raiders will be depending on at least one, if not several, incoming freshman to contribute early. Neill hopes that getting familiarized with his environment early will increase his chances of getting on the field quicker.
