Metroplex LB getting interest

One of DFW's fastest rising prospects in recent weeks is Richland High's Victor Jones. The dynamic linebacker has been a cog in the Rebels defense since his sophomore year and in 2006 he racked up 92 tackles en route to 1st team district honors.

Although he doesn't hold an offer to date, colleges from around the south are starting to pour in interest for Jones including teams like Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and TCU to name but a few. Early on it appears that teams north of the Lone Star state are in the lead for the 6-foot-1, 219 pounder.

"I've been to junior days at OSU, A&M, and TCU," he said. "I like OSU a lot, Coach Bradford text me a lot, the coaches are really cool and they have new facilities. It's a place I feel I could fit in. My favorite though would probably be Oklahoma, I've liked them for a long time and they're still close to home."

Jones says proximity and playing time will factor in heavily when deciding where he wants to spend the next four to five years.

"I kind of want to stay close to home," Jones said. "I also want to go to a good place where I can start at a young age and play early."

TCU is a team that has shown constant interest in Jones and so far the Frogs are a team he's interested in as well.

"I have an interest in TCU," he said. "It's a school that is real close to home. We also have an o-lineman, Deveric Gallington, that really likes them a lot too."

Jones is hoping that some offers start to come his way before long so he can focus his attention on his senior season.

"My coach says that hopefully I'll be getting some offers this spring," he said. "I'd like to decide before my senior year so I can have fun ad enjoy my last year."
