Jones just wants to play

For a Washington football program looking to make major improvements to the defensive secondary, Ivy Jones may be worth a close look.


The speedy 5-foot-9, 180-pound cornerback for City College of San Francisco (he runs a 4.41-second 40-yard-dash) hides little with his plainspoken demeanor, and this includes an assertion that he remains interested in Washington.


Indeed, Jones may be nothing if not direct, as the story of his transfer from Fresno City College to CCSF illustrates.


"If I want to be one of the best recruits in the nation, he says, "I have to play with the best people. We played at CCSF last year and got beat 40-0. After the game I went over and talked to the coach about his program. He wasn't just interested in football, but also family, school, life-that's what I want."
