Cornell Jr. thrilled to be a Spartan

Quincy (Ill.) Notre Dame offensive tackle Jack Cornell Jr. fell in love with Michigan State when he was in East Lansing for all three days of the Spartans' June football camp.

Cornell decided before he left East Lansing that he was going to be a Spartan. But he wanted to sit on his decision before making his choice public at a press conference held at his high school earlier today.

Michigan State and the other schools recruiting Cornell, rave about his athleticism. When Cornell arrived in East Lansing for the June football camp, he was measured at 6-foot-7 and weighed in at 310 pounds.

Cornell chose Michigan State over Illinois and Nebraska, his two other finalists. The three-star tackle also had scholarship offers from Missouri, Purdue, Indiana, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Marshall.
