Cornell picks Michigan State

Michigan State picked up an impressive commitment for the class of 2007 when offensive tackle prospect Jack Cornell Jr. of Notre Dame High School in Quincy, Illinois selected John L. Smith and the Spartans.

Cornell had narrowed his choices down to Michigan State, Illinois and Nebraska, all of them offered him a scholarship.

The 6-foot-6, 295-pound Cornell becomes the third offensive line commitment to Michigan State University. He gives the Spartans a jump start on bringing one of the best offensive line classes in the Big Ten for 2007.
