Carmichael quickly becoming top prospect

Charlie Carmichael describes himself as " an energetic and carefree guy", but when he is on the field this 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive tackle from Notre Dame in Sherman Oaks, Calif., is the polar opposite. Carmichael refers to his on-field play as "aggressive and nasty."

He's only been playing organized football since he was a freshman, but he's made huge strides and he's shocked at the hoopla surrounding him recently.

"I went from not playing my sophomore year to playing better than I thought I would. The recruiting and scholarship interest has been a big surprise to me," he said.

He credits sitting out his sophomore year for the success he had this past season. Spending more time on the practice field and in the film room helped him prepare for his junior year and overcome the hurdles of learning a new game.
