August 24, 2012The final week of training camp saw the Pitt football team experience a number of changes to its roster, and those changes affect the 2012 Scholarship Board.
The first announcements were in regards to new scholarships, as head coach Paul Chryst gave scholarships to four walk-on players. Redshirt junior punter Matt Yoklic, redshirt junior long-snapper Kevin Barthelemy, redshirt sophomore fullback Mark Giubilato, and freshman receiver Chris Wuestner were all awarded scholarships after earning starting jobs or spots on the two-deep during training camp.
Additionally, sophomore tight end Manasseh Garner will transfer to Pitt from Wisconsin as well, Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema announced on Thursday.
The Pitt football team also saw a departure from the roster, as well. Chryst announced on Thursday that sophomore cornerback Lloyd Carrington will be transferring out of Pitt to move closer to his home in Dallas, Texas. Carrington was working at backup cornerback in training camp and figured to enter the season as a primary reserve.
With the personnel changes, Pitt now stands to enter the 2012 season with 83 players on scholarship.
