July 8, 2011Freshman running back Jeremiah Bryson has withdrawn from Pitt and will enroll at Middle Tennessee State University, according to a report by The Daily News Journal, a Tennessee newspaper.
Bryson, a three-star prospect from Smyrna, Tennessee, signed with Pitt in February and was one of a handful of holdovers from the recruiting class Dave Wannstedt had built before his resignation in December. He picked Pitt over offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, Kent State, Memphis, Ohio, and MTSU.
With Bryson's departure, Pitt has six running backs on scholarship entering the 2011 season. Junior Ray Graham returns as the probable starter, and Zach Brown will join the team as a redshirt senior transfer from Wisconsin; Brown will be eligible for the 2011 season.
Graham and Brown will be joined by incoming freshmen Corey Davis, Malcolm Crockett, and Isaac Bennett, although Bennett will likely play the new offensive system's three-back position. Redshirt freshman Derrick Burns is also on the team.
Bryson rushed for 1,515 yards and 19 touchdowns as a senior at Smyrna.
