Mosley-Smith set for SU visit
Ryan Murray
CuseConfidential.com Pittsburgh (PA) Woodland Hills defensive tackle Khaynin Mosley-Smith holds four offers at this time. Recently the prospect took a visit to Pittsburgh and now he has made his way to another Big East program.
Mosley-Smith, 6-foot-1, 275 pounds is visiting Syracuse University today. The Pittsburgh area player was offered by the Orange a couple weeks ago and he was pleased with the offer.
"I thought it was good. Talking with Coach Conley he said I would have a chance to come in and play and touching the field my first year. I was pretty surprised at that."
As it stands right now the Orange have not offered many defensive tackles. What made the Keystone State product stand out?
"They said that I am explosive in how I go after the ball and that I am versatile because of my speed. They really like my speed and aggressiveness."
The Orange have been talking with Mosley-Smith for awhile now and during that time he was able to get a solid read on the Orange coaching staff.
"Before they offered I was talking to them for about two or three months and they were waiting on my tape," Mosley-Smith said. "I think the coaches are great. I have talked with the defensive line coach and Coach Conley and they are all nice. I am going out there to visit on Tuesday, so I think it is real good."
Right now the Pittsburgh Panthers lead for the services of the defensive prospect, but there are a few other schools that are still in the mix.
"My top five would have to probably be Pittsburgh, Syracuse, West Virginia, Ohio, and Toledo," Mosley-Smith stated. "I would put it in that order."
The versatile defensive tackle talked about why Pittsburgh and Syracuse are at the top of his list.
Syracuse: "When he said I could be on the field my first year, I am looking forward to that. They were the first school to tell me that."
Pittsburgh: "The reason I like Pittsburgh right now is because it is my hometown and I am constantly down there. Me and the coaches have been talking on a solid basis I feel and I also feel that they are showing me more of that family love."
On his trip to Syracuse is there anything in particular that he will be looking for?
"I just want to see about what I want to major in, the coaching staff, the field, and the area."
A decision is not going to come early from Mosley-Smith as he told CuseConfidential.com that there are a couple items he wants to focus on first.
"Right now I just want to wait and enjoy my senior season and make sure my grades are high so I will be able to play. I am not trying to make a decision right now because who knows I might get something else I like."
