South Florida APB holds three offers

Weston (Fla.) Cypress Bay running back Jason Douglas can do a number of things on the football field. His speed and elusiveness make him a threat in the backfield, catching the ball and returning kicks. Currently, Douglas is up to three official offers.

At 5-foot-7, Douglas is a scat back that is hard to corral in the backfield. In Coral Gables at the Miami Nike Camp, Douglas weighed in at just over 150 pounds but he has been working to add weight to his frame.

"This year I'm just trying to gain more weight," Douglas said. "This fall I'm going to play at 170. I'm going to be training and getting bigger than I already am. I'm at 161 now. Before spring started I was up to 170. Now I'm trying to add it back."

Pittsburgh, FIU and Troy are Douglas' three offers to date.

"I'm definitely going to go up to Pittsburgh," he said of his summer plans. "I haven't really talked about any other visits. FIU is in my backyard. I'm probably going to take my unofficial to UM. That's what I have scheduled."

Douglas, whose cousin Jordan Futch signed with Miami out of the 2008 class, showed a lot this spring in practice. Not only did he show that patented speed and explosiveness out of the backfield but he showed some toughness as well.

"Towards the end of our first scrimmage, it was a week before our real scrimmage, I broke my ring finger and I still scored a touchdown," he said. "They had me at the slot, I'm a returner, slot man and running back this year."

As a special teams threat, Douglas thrives with the ball in his hands and making plays in space.

"I like kick returns," he said. "That's when I got time to think. I have the instincts to play punt returns so it's nothing for me to do that but I like kick returns because you can see everything in front of you and everything is set up perfectly. Punt returns, instincts just take over."

Douglas has been clocked at 4.4 in the 40 and has a 42 inch vertical.
